19th May – Winchester Music Club Come and Sing Bach Magnificat

19th May – A Celebration of Music from Tudor England and the 21st Century performed by Vocalium, a new chamber choir under the direction of Dale Webb, St Peter and Holy Cross Church, Wherwell, 7.30pm. Tickets, in aid of Wherwell Church restoration programme, cost £8 or £6 for concessions, and are available from Dale Webb on dalewebb@mac.com or 01264 860074. 23rd May – Baroque Music in Winchester (3): Philip Salmon, tenor, 8pm Winchester Guildhall. Tickets cost £12.50.

26th May – Singing workshop with the Madding Crowd 10.30am – 12pm St Lawrence Church, Winchester. Come and sing songs in the West Gallery style: before organs were introduced into churches in the mid 19th century musicians like Thomas Hardy’s father and grandfather would sing and play in the West Gallery. Tickets cost £3 on the door to include music issued. Part of Winchester Mayfest.

13th June – A Royal Celebration with the Barts Choir and Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Festival Hall, 7.30pm. Music for royal occasions by Parry, Handel, Walton, Vaughan Williams and Mealor, conducted by Ivor Setterfield. Tickets cost £27.50 – £12 with concessions at half price, from the Southbank Centre box office: 0844 847 9910 or online.

20th June – Baroque Music in Winchester (4): Eleanor Harrison, baroque violin, 8pm Winchester Guildhall. Tickets cost £12.50.

8th July – The Really Big Chorus Singday 2012 in the Royal Albert Hall, all day and evening, conducted by Brian Kay. The day will feature the world premiere of ‘Gods of Olympus’ by Karl Jenkins, his ‘The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace’, and London Suite by Eric Coates.

14th July – Spirit Oratorio Workshop 10.30am-4.30pm, Bridge Street Methodist Church, Andover, SP10 1BL, conducted by Alexander Chaplin. Your chance to try out, with no obligation, Henrietta’s new oratorio, and you’ll even get a free lunch! Click on the link above for full details.

June, July, August – RunBySingers Singing weeks and weekends held all over Europe with musical directors Nigel Perrin, Jeremy Jackman and David Allinson.

21st-28th July – Cssm Summer School of Music at Sherborne School, Dorset. Many and varied courses for instrumentalists and singers (both choral and soloists); most will take part in the final concert of the week which will include Beethoven’s Mass in C.

4th-11th August – Music for People Summer School of Music at Giggleswick School, Settle, North Yorkshire. More than 20 courses to choose from with first rate tutors in idyllic surroundings. Click on the link above for full details.

12th-19th August – Cranleigh Choral Week culminating in a performance of Mozart’s “Great” C Minor Mass in Guildford Cathedral, under the artistic direction of Jeffrey Wynn Davis. The course is held at Cranleigh School in Surrey and is the UK’s largest single week choral course for adults with a ‘legendary social programme’! In addition to the mass you will also meet a full range of chamber choir music.

8th September – Come and Sing Elijah with the Winchester City Festival Choir, St Cross Chapel, Winchester. There will be a practice from 4.30 – 6.30pm followed by the concert at 7.30. Tickets cost £10 for singers and £8 for audience. Singers should register in advance by emailing wcfc_register@hotmail.co.uk.

20th-23rd September – The Really Big Chorus Guernsey Getaway St James Hall, St Peter Port, Guernsey. Brian Kay will conduct Handel: Four Coronation Anthems and Faure: Requiem.

20th October – The First Performance of Spirit Oratorio 7.30pm St Mary’s Church, Andover SP10 1ER, written by our own Henrietta Wentworth Stanley and conducted by Neil Ferris. Ticket details will follow nearer the date.

15th November – Winchester Music Club Concert – Britten: War Requiem

2nd December – The Really Big Chorus Messiah from Scratch at the Royal Albert Hall, 7pm, with The English Festival Orchestra and conducted by Brian Kay.
